Welcome Reception for Osterhofen teachers and students

On Monday 25th April 2016, there was a welcome reception held in Ballybay Wetlands Centre for 22 Students and 4 teachers who arrived earlier that day from Osterhofen in Germany. The visitors were in Ireland for 4 days and had arranged day trips to Belfast and Dublin. Cllr Ciara McPhillips welcomed the students to Ballybay and said that she hoped that they enjoy their stay in Ireland. Cllr Ciara McPhillips referred to her trip to Osterhofen in 2015 and stated that the hospitality was amazing and hopes that the Students and teachers are made to feel welcome and enjoy the Irish Hospitality.

Food was provided by George Wallace and music/dancing and singing courtesy of Tullycorbet Comhaltas Group. Ms Antoinette Byrne, teacher from Ballybay Community College attended the event along with pupils Aoibheann Byrne and Cynthia Plummer. Cllr Sean Gilliland, officials from Ballybay-Clones Municipal Office, members of Ballybay Chamber of commerce and Ballybay Town Twinning Committee also attended the event.

Two German Students spoke about their School and life in Osterhofen/Gerweiss

GermanStudents5Wednesday 27th April 2016 the students visited Ballybay Community College and met with teachers and pupils from the School. On Wednesday afternoon the students and teachers from Osterhofen visited Lough Mourne Shooting Grounds and had a great afternoon pistol shooting and clay pigeon shooting, Cllr Sean Gilliland was in attendance along with representatives from Ballybay-Clones Municipal Office and Martin McAviney from the Town Twinning Committee.
