BANK OF IRELAND ATM ROBBED – HOWEVER MONIES AVAILABLE IN BALLYBAY
In the early hours of last Sunday morning the Bank of Ireland ATM machine was ripped from the building and a large amount of monies were stolen. A mechanical digger was used in the robbery. Local Garda are keen to hear from anyone who may have observed anyone acting suspicious in the town in recent times. They would also like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street early last Sunday morning.
As a result of the robbery local solicitor Lynda Smyth organised a meeting on Monday night. At the meeting it was confirmed that the local branch of Bank of Ireland will be open on Saturday and Sunday next from 10am until 6pm and on Monday until lunchtime. The bank will offer ATM services inside. In relation to general banking it is important to note that Ballybay Post Office offer a banking service for AIB, Ulster and Danske customers as well as An Post Smart Account. Ballybay Credit Union will be open on Saturday and that there is an ATM machine instore at Centra. Most retail shops and pubs will accept debit cards and offer cashback. A list of the shops offering cashback is available on the ‘Ballybay and its People’ FACEBOOK page. Many retailers have promised special promotions on Friday and Saturday of this week.
