Kepak Factory

Kepak Group, an Irish based company, is one of Europe’s leading food innovators. Kepak frozen burger manufacturing site is located at Corkeeran, Ballybay. Approximately 143 people are employed at the plant and it is a major contributor to the economic development of Ballybay. The factory, although not at full capacity, is capable of producing one million burgers per day. All burgers produced in the plant are sourced from 90% of the raw materials from Kepak vertically integrated sites. Kepak Group is the only supplier of burgers exclusively in Ireland and United Kingdom to the fast-food giant Burger King. 

Kepak Ballybay is also home to the Big Als brand one of Ireland leading brands. 

Kepak also produces burgers for: Aldi UK, Aldi IRL, Musgraves, Dunnes Stores, AutoGrill, Disney, QUICK, TGI Friday, Whitbread, The Restaurant Group, Revolution, Hard Rock Café and to 1200 independent Quick Service Restaurants Nationwide.

Traceability and product integrity are of key importance and all of Kepak finished products are subject to stringent testing at various stages of production at the Plant. The manufacturing site is BRC accredited to Grade A level and is also audited and certified annually by SGS to produce 100% muscle VL specification, a pre-requisite for Steak Haché production for the European market.

As part of the Ballybay Oktober-féast held in Ballybay Town over the weekend of 9th-11th October, 2015, a tour of the Kepak factory took place on Friday, 9th October, 2015. In attendance were Karl Heinz Hierzegger from Osterhofen-Gergweis, Germany, a number of german students and members of Ballybay Chamber of Commerce and Ballybay-Clones Municipal District.  The tour began in the factory boardroom with a comprehensive presentation on the history and operations of the factory given by Gary Doyle, Kepak General Manager and Orla Sherry, Kepak Frozen Division Technical Manager. This was followed by lunch when the visitors had a chance to sample the quality burgers for themselves. It was then on to the factory floor where the visitors were given an extensive tour of the factory floor and were shown the operations of the factory from start to finish. An enjoyable day was had by all.
