BOWLS NEWS
Owing to the good weather for the past few weeks a lot of games were played on the outdoor bowling green. The leading team in the local league is Ballybay Green who have maximum points. The members are Noel Campbell, PJ Martin, Angela Mc Caughey, Greg Marron, Stephan Mc Cann and Skip Rose Hughes. Their latest outing on Monday night seen them defeat Derryvalley to go top of the league.
The cross-border team are back in action this week when they play Enniskillen at home which should result in maximum points for Ballybay. On Wednesday 30th May we will play Letterkenny in Donegal – this is a cancelled game owing to heavy rain at the start of the month.
This week will see the start of the town tournament when the business of the town get three persons and the club will supply one experienced bowler for the knockout game. Last year’s winner was Patricia Mc Cabe of Soda Barrell who defeated Murnane’s in the final.
On Saturday the 9th June the Gibson Trophy will be played for so now is the time to put your name on the timesheet in the club pavilion. Also on the notice board is the dates and times of the champion of champions competitions.
