RIP THOM MOORE
Many of you will not have heard of Thom Moore who died recently. He was an American singer songwriter who moved to Ireland in 1974. In 1994 he released a song called “Gorgeous & Bright”. The song makes reference to Ballybay and Lough Egish. The first verse goes:
Monaghan was frozen
Snow fell night and day;
Lighter hearts who’d chosen to
set out from Ballybay.
We meant to find Lough Egish
but the world was dazzled white;
A fire was lit we drank a bit
and home before the night.
