NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE HERITAGE COUNCIL
Michael Parsons who originates from Ballybay but who has been living in County Laois for a good many years has been appointed as Chairman of the Heritage Council. The retired Portlaoise school Principal has been active in heritage circles for over 40 years and has been a member of the Heitage Council from 2012 to 2016. Minister Heather Humprhies welcomed the appointment saying, “ The appointment of Michael Parsons as Chairman of the Heritage Council is in recognition of his long standing commitment to, and understanding of the importance of our national heritage. He is ideally placed to lead the Council through the next stage of its development in close collaboration with my Department”.
