ENTERPRISE CENTRE AND LIBRARY TO HOST FESTIVAL WORKSHOPS

The Cavan Monaghan Science Festival will commencing shortly and this year as part of the festival there will be four workshops hosted in Ballybay. These workshops will be hosted on 13th/14th/15th November and are free to attend but booking is essential. Details of all four workshops is listed below.



Introduction to 3D CAD in Ballybay Enterprise Centre, Monday 13th November at 7pm Are you an aspiring architect, maybe a future game designer, want to work in design manufacturing or perhaps an engineer, or you simply like to draw, well here is a great opportunity to come along to this fun interactive introductory workshop on 3D CAD. Learn how to use Solidworks 3D to create your own shapes and drawings. 3D CAD allows you to create a virtual “model” of how an object will behave in the real world, even before it is ever built. The Science behind your Smartphone in Ballybay Library, Tuesday 14th November at 10am This 3 hour workshop gives attendees an introduction to SmartPhones and Tablets, as well as popular operating systems (eg: Android or iPhone), we discuss popular apps and how to download them from the Play Store or App Store, Prolonging your Battery Life, Wifi & Internet Connections especially with regard to bills/costs, settings and other useful options or tips. This 3 hour session should gives participants a chance to get to know their device and its features, as well as making more informed decisions before purchasing a new device. Lego Storyword workshop in Ballybay Library, Tuesday 14th November at 4pm Love Lego? Fancy turning your Lego creation into a Comic Strip Story? Join us as we combine Engineering and Literacy to create stories using our imagination, lots of Lego and ipad technology. Numbers strictly limited. Lego & iPads provided. Careers in Science in Ballybay Enterprise Centre, Wednesday 15th November at 7pm This information session will allow learners/potential students to explore careers in the science field. Guidance counsellors will give a broad overview of careers in the Science areas and courses available locally in addition to course and entry requirements. If attendees have individual queries, appointments can be made to meet these people on a one-to-one basis for a free and confidential guidance appointment. If there is sufficient time, counsellors may address these individual queries on the day.
