INDOOR BOWLING SEASON CLOSES
The Ballybay indoor bowling season came to a conclusion on Monday night with a game for the Community Shield when we played Latton. This has been our usual end of season game but because of other commitments it just did not happen for the last four years so it is great to see it been played for once again. There was a full turn out of members from both clubs and all finished level on points so it came down to the scores where Ballybay came out winners by 7 shots. The presentation took place afterwards when Seamus Lennon (the Latton Captain) presented Benny Smyth, the Captain of the Ballybay team with the shield. Both captains said their few words and remembered with fondness the banter that would take place when the late Jimmy Mc Elroy and Dessie Mc Govern use to play for the shield. Our Chairperson Angela Rutledge thanked all that contributed to the night and wished all well for the Summer months at the outdoor green. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Jackie and Vincent Rutledge and Philip Gibson who are in hospital at the moment.
