MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION AGM
Ballybay Mental Health Association held their AGM last Friday 24 February 2017 at Cuan Mhuire. Reports were delivered from the Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. The Chairperson paid tribute to the committee members` work during the year. The Secretary noted that Mental Health Ireland has a new CEO. The local committee appointed for the coming year is - Chairperson Michael Mc Ginn (out-going), Secretary Sharon Carraher (out-going), Treasurer Eilish Deery (Out-going) while Michael Mc Ginnity, Gabriel Treanor, Stephen Duffy and Charlie Barker are on the committee. If anyone else would like to offer their services please just contact a committee member. A fund raising community Table Quiz is planned in the near future while the holding of a craft workshop for older people will also be explored. Pupils in sixth class at the six local primary schools have been invited to submit a short essay on the positive mental health theme: Friendship, closing date is Friday 31 March and there is €300 in prizes.
The regular monthly social at Cuan Mhuire continues on Friday 10 march from 11.30 am onwards and is open to all-comers. The group is accepting an invitation to visit Ardaghey Social Club on Monday 27 March for lunch and a musical afternoon. The bus leaves from the Riverdale car park at 11.30am. Again everyone welcome.
